NoWakie was invented by my father and his need for an affordable electric pontoon boat.

Who knew at the time that a plastic pontoon boat would have such an interest with people.

Although NoWakie is certified up to a 15hp please know that this boat is designed for quiet pleasure cruising.  A 55lb thrust 12 volt electric trolling motor is a great investment.  An 80lb thrust electric trolling motor with 24 volts (as shown in many of our photos below) is is perfect for many additional hours of use and well worth the extra cost.

Our 780 lb plastic triple pontoon boat is ideal for lakes, ponds and canal homes communities. Salt Water is not an issue with NoWakie.

What makes a NoWakie different from other boats?

Handrail and Pontoon Material-

Our pontoons and handrail are made from HDPE (High Density Polyethylene).

It is a thermoplastic polymer derived from petroleum.  It is called Starboard or boat board in the marine industry and is very durable.  It has UV (ultraviolet) additives added at time of manufacturing to prevent breakdown in sunlight.

HDPE can withstand temperatures up to 120 degrees Fahrenheit (120 Celsius) and as low as -148 Fahrenheit (-100 Celsius). This makes it the ideal material mechanically for transporting hot and cold substances as well as geothermal heat and pressurized liquids. Its melting point is at 266 Fahrenheit (130 Celsius). This is also useful in manufacturing as the material can be shaped and molded at relatively low temperatures.

Our pontoons start off as flat sheets of 3/16 HDPE.  We use a butt welder to turn each sheet into a tube that has a bulk head welded into each end of every 4 foot section.

With three pontoons there is a total of 16 individually sealed chambers.

Our pontoons are hand rolled from flat sheets of 3/16" High Density Polyethylene (HDPE). We cap each end of the 4 foot tubes and weld each tube together.  This creates 17 individual, welded sealed chambers throughout the 3 pontoons.  The nose of the pontoons are built with 1/4" HDPE and have an additional 1/4" thick HDPE cap on top of that for strength.  Our pontoons are approximately 15 1/2" in diameter.

Deck Specs

We use only marine grade plywood on our NoWakie decks.  It consists of one 4x14 sheet and one 2x14 sheet of 3/4" marine Fir plywood with no voids on the interior of the wood.

We rivet the deck to the aluminum framing described below

We wrap our vinyl flooring over the top and side of the deck.  We then use silicone to seal the rub rail and handrail to prevent water from seeping into the wood through the topside of the deck where holes have been drilled for handrail and rub rail securing.  The bottom side of the decking is left open and unsealed as per manufacturers instructions.

Handrails and Gates

Our handrails/gates are constructed of 3/4" X 2" HDPE pickets and gates that are routered to shape.  They are held together with 1 5/8" stainless steel screws to provide an incredibly durable and weather resistant rail that looks great and cleans easy as well.
